Did anyone play the French version of Helldorado?

What are your opinions of the game, models, army building, etc.

I'm able to get a decent discount while working at Gen Con and thought that the models looked great, and back when Asmodee had it, I was quite interested.

Now that Cipher is producing it and releasing at Gen Con, I'm curious and interested in buying into it.

Anyone here have any experience with Helldorado?

All Games Andy (Brasidas) does. As does his equally eclectic friends MEdwards and Necromancer120

I printed out the translated rules at one point and read through them... it looked to have some potential but I never went any further than that. I will say that the appearance of the figs I saw was phenomenal and I considered picking them up on several instances... specifically the Daemons and the Lizards.

Well, if anyone is interested, I should be able to get the starters at a steep discount at Gen Con, so if you're interested, let me know.

I'm going to pick up two starters and the rulebook and see how it goes, depending on what Cipher has at their booth.

It's been a long time since I've played, so what I remember are impressions rather than specifics.

I liked the game. It had a unique setting, great figures, and a decent game engine. It's definitely a skirmish scale, with multiple special rules per model. I thought at the time it had something of the combination building that Privateer Press has with their games, but that may have had as much to do with the faction I was playing (saracens) as anything else.

On the other hand, I think MEdwards ended up being kinda "meh" about it. Necromancer liked it iirc, but didn't play it as much as Mark and I.

I'd heard Cipher wasn't going to have the rulebook ready on time for gencon. If it's there, I'm grabbing it. :)

Well, we have access to the English translation from Asmodee at least, right? :)

Hate to say this but are we talking Warmachine ready or Malifaux ready?

I liked the game as well. I lime the idea of different models having mini feats and you had the make the decision to burn resources temporarily or permantly. Also a fan of alternating activations and degrading abilities as you take damage. Also vaguely remember the terrain setup being done randomly before each battle with a betting system.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was a nice blend of C3 and Warmachine. Unfortunately it appeared like it was going the way of C3 and it was rarely getting played locally so I dropped it.

loved the sculpts.
I didnt play a lot, but rules seemed pretty good. When Cipher gets it going i will be all for grabbing it again.

Cipher is sharing a booth with a couple of friends this year, if they have anything good i will be checking it out (if i make it).

Which booth are you two working this year? Not that I'll be there, just curious.

No booth this year, I'm just going as me this year. First time I've been where I haven't been putting in at least 16 hours at a booth somewhere.
